VICEROY HOTEL

PALM SPRINGS, CA

Stunning grounds at the Viceroy Palm Springs

Stunning grounds at the Viceroy Palm Springs

After 14 hours in the air, 2 hours of driving, many attempts to tame my static hair and one very important pit-stop (what can I say... the famous Palm Spring's date shakes were impossible to resist)- we arrived at the Viceroy Hotel Palm Springs. We started our American road-trip off in style- evident as soon as we pulled up to this stunning hotel, which is ideally located in the heart of Palm Springs.

We were greeted at the front desk by absolutely lovely staff who oozed laid back Californian sophistication (cool without being pretentious- something this establishment seems to pull off perfectly). The lobby features Viceroy's signature crisp yellow, black and white colour palette- the perfect vibe to snap us out of the looming jetlag that was starting to set in.

After a very swift check in, we made our way through the picturesque grounds- perfectly manicured gardens, stunning pools and a breathtaking mountain backdrop- until we reached our incredible poolside villa.

The villa was not only extremely stylish, but thoughtfully laid out and extremely comfortable- something I rarely find in hotels these days. Let's face it- lots of establishments just look good on the surface and as the stay progresses, you start to encounter small faults in the layout of the room or find some amenities have been overlooked. Not this hotel- it was perfection. Everything was thought of and not one single thing had been overlooked.

The spacious villa consisted of a kitchenette, dining room, a very large and comfortable lounge room with fireplace, an outdoor patio with access from both the bedroom/ lounge room, a bath and shower combination, luxury spa products, a walk in wardrobe, lots of natural light (very important for me- nothing worse than a dark hotel room!) and one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in- the list goes on and on. My husband and I have been lucky enough to stay at some amazing properties during our travels- and I have to say this ones ranks up there with the best. Truly, we wanted to move in here permanently.......... (surely that isn't too much to ask is it?) The Viceroy has an old-school Spanish feel and was designed by the amazing Kelly Wearstler. It has a full service spa and a gorgeous restaurant "Citron"- a stylish indoor/outdoor restaurant with amazing food- this will be a separate review as it's definitely worthy of it!

Our days were spent by the pool sipping cool drinks and catching up on some reading material (ok, my "reading material" was trashy magazines but don't judge, I was jetlagged and needed to completely zone out). Our balmy evenings consisted of amazing sunsets, long dinners, watching the night sky change many spectacular shades of blue and long conversations while stargazing on our private patio. This experience was truly magical and romantic- something we will never forget.

Hopefully we can get back to the Viceroy Palm Springs soon- and for anyone considering a hotel in Palm Springs- look no further- this hotel will not disappoint!

For full disclosure: My husband and I were upgraded to a poolside villa and given a generous discount on food and beverage. All opinions are my own and this did not influence this review in the slightest. Truly, I am not someone who would say it is fantastic if it wasn't- not for all the date shakes in the world.
