The third stop on our USA road trip was Sedona, Arizona. As we approached the small scenic town- with a population just over 10,000 - we thought there was no way it could get any prettier than what we had seen- boy, weren't we wrong. We pulled up at the gates of the Enchantment Resort in absolute awe at the sheer beauty of our surroundings. I don't think I have ever seen anything as beautiful as the backdrop of the red rock mountains set against the blue sky. It was utterly breathtaking and surreal. This resort is nestled at the base of the mountains- scattered terracotta buildings, all blending in perfectly with the earthy natural surrounds. It almost really feels like we walked onto the set of a country and western movie at Universal Studios- but obviously a million times better. The mountains truly felt 3D- as if you could reach out and touch them- layers of different colours and dimensions.
After a very quick registration process, we were whisked away for a property tour and shown to our lovely room. We had been upgraded to a junior suite with a balcony- perfect to sit outside and savour the view.
This room was luxurious and contemporary- comprising of two TVs, a fireplace, a marble bathroom with separate bath and shower and dual sinks. A very comfortable king bed to stretch out in. Fresh juice and newspapers delivered discreetly to your door daily, an evening turn-down service. Luxurious fluffy white robes were laid out on your bed every night- which I lived in for approximately 99% of our time spent inside- let's be honest, if I could have gone hiking in it I probably would have- so comfortable!
As for the resort overall- I have to stress I really haven't seen anything like it in my life. I think you get the message, but I want to shout it from the top of the red rocks for the world to hear. This place is AMAZING and everyone should experience it once in their lifetime. Or maybe even twice? Photos will never do it justice. The spa itself was the most impressive I have EVER laid my eyes on (so impressive in fact, that I will be a writing a separate review on it). There are designated mens' and womens' areas- which had everything you could imagine- saunas, spas, pools, changing rooms, individual showers, fresh towels, complimentary fruit, tea, flavoured water, quiet nooks to read, a crystal energy room, daily yoga and every treatment you could possibly desire. There is a small cafe on the spa property which serves breakfast and lunch by the pool- with once again, that breathtaking backdrop which (unsurprisingly) is visible from every area on the property. You really could spend a whole day chilling out here- it's stunning and unbelievably relaxing.
The resort provides complimentary bikes, a games room for kids, guided stargazing at night, guided hikes, tennis courts, kids club- honestly the list goes on and on. You could never run out of things to do- or alternatively, you can do nothing at all. We did a mixture of both- lots of lounging by the pool, a couple of hikes in the red rocks. One thing to mention- on our hike we started to hear music - it seemed to be getting louder....."do they stream music throughout the mountains?" I joked to my husband - .......no, that music was a local flutist sitting on top of a butte- the music echoing all around the canyon while we hiked to the top. Live music while we hiked? Amazing. Most nights we enjoyed happy hour above the pool area with a direct view of the red rocks and the sunset, sipping on local wines and enjoying our balmy nights in Sedona. All food and wines were delicious. I'm pretty sure I ate my body weight in the warm salted nuts with gorgonzola cheese and honey. Divine.
If anyone is thinking about visiting this area, I urge you visit this resort; I can guarantee you will be blown away. We really can't fault anything about the Enchantment resort and can't wait to get back there someday soon!
