VIRGIN AUSTRALIA

BUSINESS CLASS

SYDNEY- LOS ANGELES. SEATS 3H, 3K.

SERVICE

Friendly, genuine and not over the top. Staff seem to really love their job. Young and vibrant crew. We are addressed by our names, swiftly handed a welcome drink and asked if we would like a rundown on the business class service. Our flight attendant goes out of her way to make sure we have everything we need throughout the whole flight- even noticing we love our salt and pepper shakers in the shape of the opera house. These are placed in my lap at the end of my meal, with a quick wink to acknowledge it's not normally done. Our beds were turned down with slightly padded mattress protectors, warm blankets, pillows and we were given two sets of very loose, comfortable pyjamas to slip into.  From start to finish we felt pampered and arrived in Los Angeles refreshed. This was the first time we had flown business class (which is the top tier service on the 777-300ER) with Virgin Australia and we were very impressed.

SEAT

Very comfortable, lots of different positions/setting were tested and each one was really lovely. Whether it be a slight recline to watch TV, a cradle position to stare out the window, or the near flat bed which I managed to get 6 hours sleep in, I was always comfortable for the whole duration of the flight. One thing to note is the seats are not extremely wide, so if you are a customer of size you should keep this in mind.

FOOD

Excellent food and beverage selection, we really couldn't fault it. Vegetarian and chicken options were selected and both were very tasty. Cheese platter and dessert offered, both were delicious. For breakfast we chose the warm loaf with fresh and caramelized fruit, creme fresh and mint. I feel like I'm in a fancy restaurant with all the offerings, rather than being 37,000 feet in the air. Strong coffee and juice go down well and give us the extra kick we need to start our holiday.

OVERALL

I highly recommend Virgin's business class long haul product. Keep in mind if this is out of your budget, Virgin have velocity point sales (normally twice a year) where you can snag sale seats for 155,000 return (15% off). It's worth every dollar/point!  In my opinion row 3 were the best pick of the main business class cabin, as you have no one behind you. Keep in mind they do have a closed off section for VIPs/celebrities or higher ranked velocity members- which is row 5. These are supposed to be very private and quiet.
