OUT OF THE OFFICE

Travel + Food Blog

WYNN, LAS VEGAS

USA

I'm going to try to keep this review short & sweet- much like our stay in Vegas.  It's worth noting that my Vegas hangover was anything but short & sweet.

Firstly, I feel compelled to state the obvious: VEGAS IS FULL ON. I mean, who am I kidding - everyone knows this right?!  Unless you have been living under a rock- in which case I would like to thank you for coming out and reading my travel blog- I'm flattered!

Over the top themed hotels, mind blowing theatrical shows, lights that stretch for miles, amazing water shows, jackpots going off in every direction, dogs dressed up as Elvis, Michael Jackson impersonators casually eating bigmacs in the hotel foyer, and ladies flashing their boobs to passing cars are all the norm here in Sin-city. HOLD ON....back it up- say what?!! Ladies flashing? Yes. And let me correct myself by calling them ladies- Women? Drunks? You decide what's fitting. If my hangover was bad, I can't imagine how they felt the next morning. My guess would be AWKWARD.

Before deciding on our accommodation, lots of "umming and ahhing" went on in this household (so much umming and ahhing it actually started to sound like a Belinda Carlise song. Or would that be hmmmmming and oooooohhhing?) So many to choose from! So many themes! Old school Vs new? HMMMMM where to start!  OHHHHH Heaven is a place on earth!

Well, I will have you know I started at TripAdvisor- where any smart traveller should start  (let's not mention the Australian woman who took TripAdvisor's advice on Mexican Visas, rather than the Embassy's advice on Mexican Visas shall we? We all know where that got her.)

The general consensus on the Wynn hotel is that you can't find a better location or value for money- in fact I can't fault it. We got an amazing deal by signing up to their loyalty program (15% off)- so basically it was a no-brainer in the end- the Wynn it was!

We arrived at 3pm, the perfect time to check in- and it was exactly as we had hoped for. The hotel is spectacular and over the top- as you would expect in Vegas. The foyer was amazing- arrangements of fresh flowers, marble and bling at every turn. Our room was on a very high level with a nice view (though not of the strip). The room was really impressive- especially considering this is what they classify as the entry level room. Very spacious, comfortable bed, spotlessly clean, great bathroom- it felt like you were staying somewhere really luxurious. The pools were beautiful and really well designed- they never seemed overly crowded (and we were there in summer). They had plenty of private luxurious cabanas you could rent out by the pool- all equipped with fridges for stocking drinks, TV's, lounges, Mike Tyson's pet tiger etc etc. All the common areas were spotless- we actually found this a lot in Vegas which really surprised us considering where we were. The wait for check in was less than 5 minutes, check out could be done electronically in the room, so no lining up was required. Valet parking was a breeze. Everything at this hotel ran like a well oiled machine. We couldn't have been happier and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Vegas!

If you have any questions please feel free to drop me a line!

PS: That wasn't so short & sweet, was it?
