Ok, I have a confession to make- I was tossing up whether to actually write this post and reveal my little secret for the best apartment in Rome. That was, until I mentioned it in passing to my husband who had a very good response:
"Don't you actually want to share tips when possible- isn't that the whole point?"
Um, ok. Yes it is. Good point I guess- but don't come running to me when we want to stay there and it's booked out dear husband!
(HA- booked out! Who do I think I am.............Oprah? At the mere mention of a service/product it will instantly sell out? I mean really, Belinda.)
So without further ado, I would like you to picture this:
An older style two bedroom apartment, a stones throw from Piazza Navona, the Pantheon and most other major attractions (in fact, we never once took a cab). Oh hold on, yes we did- back to the airport, but that would have just been weird to walk that with 2 suitcases along a highway even if we could do it. Truly, the location is AMAZING- so close to everything including gorgeous little restaurants- it simply couldn't have been better. This was hands down our favourite area in Rome too, so it was a big bonus staying here.
Also picture this: windows that open to a very picturesque lane way with scooters buzzing up and down and people eating gelato and holding hands and speaking Italian. It feels like a step back in time and you can almost picture yourself in an old movie starring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck- the atmosphere is so old school and romantic, with cobblestone streets and ancient buildings (just forget the fact you are holding an ipad and about to instagram pictures which will bring you straight back to 2015).
All of this for $150 a night. -----YES. In the heart of Rome for $150 a night in peak season (next door to a hotel priced 4 times that). Can you get your head around this? I CAN'T. It was such a bargain. And as an added bonus we had hot water. And beds! And no rats! BONUS! All jokes aside, it was very adequate for what we needed. Clean, comfortable and did I mention location?
A few things to note if you are considering this apartment (which you most definitely should, if I haven't made that clear enough).
Firstly: check dates with me before booking in case I want to rent it for the same time (KIDDING............. but only kind of).
There are quite a few steps up to the apartment- which is great for walking off pizza, but not ideal for those with any mobility issues.
There is no TV (but who wants TV in Rome?) Oh opps, actually I did- only because I need a TV to fall asleep- minor issue and now I'm just sounding like a whinger.
There is only a shower- no bath, so this might be an issue for people with small kids.
Hmmmm that seems about it. If you have any questions let me know.
