PROPERTY

Stunning gardens with beautiful flowers gardens and vegetable patches throughout the property, this feels like you are in the middle of an English country cottage, rather than a few hours out of Los Angeles. Wild deer, woodpeckers and the well known family cat greet us to check in and we feel right at home immediately. There is a low key bar that has live music and a casual dining area which serves home style meals. Quite a large property, there are several blacks of rooms in a lodge style setting, only 2 storeys tall and blend in well with the natural rustic surrounds.

ROOMS

We opt for the larger room with separate lounge area as the price wasn't much more a regular room. I had a great sleep due to the very comfortable beds, but the bathroom feels like a very basic motel (pump shampoo on the walls etc). It definitely meets our needs, but is in no way luxurious. It is decorated in country style decor, which suits the area. Movies on demand and room service available. We are woken abruptly by a wood pecker on our roof- which seems very fitting as our alarm clock.

FOOD

We only have one meal on site- breakfast. This was a buffet style setup, which was included in our room rate. It was a huge selection and delicious. Scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, pancakes, toast, fruit, coffee, juice and some of the most amazing blueberry muffins we have ever tasted. We took two for the road and still talk about them till this day!

OVERALL

A lovely base for a night in the sleepy town of Cambria. It is the perfect halfway point when driving the scenic route between San Francisco and Los Angeles. A very pretty property that is reasonably priced and child friendly. High recommended and we will definitely stay here again. Make sure to pop into the handful of antique stores along the main road- we could have stayed for hours in them!
